Sugarcane   physiological genetic and molecular breeding; Plant pathology

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHT

ZHANG   focuses on (1) Sugarcane Genetic Improvement through Breeding and   Biotechnology: 15 promising sugarcane varieties were bred and registered   for different production areas and multi-line layouts. Over 2000 germplasm   were introduced and created for essential trait genes such as stress   resistance and high sugar. (2) Decipher   essential sugarcane traits for genomic selection: The pathogens   associated with major sugarcane disease were identified, including smut,   pokkah boeng, mosaic and leaf scald. Through multi omics joint analysis, we   revealed the pathogenicity and sugarcane resistance. (3) Plant pathology   research. Significant progress has been made in the   prevention and control of citrus huanglongbing disease: We decipher the pathogen   genomics and microbiome associated with citrus HLB. A nano transdermal drug   delivery method was established.
